Camp Heart Connection Volunteers
Each summer, Children's Cancer Connection hosts a variety of camps that allow us to provide over 500 children with or recovering from cancer, as well as the siblings affected by cancer, with a secure environment to connect, grow and create lifelong memories. We rely on the volunteer support of approximately 300 individuals to ensure that these camps are a success!

Day Volunteers
We are in need of enthusiastic individuals or groups who are interested in spending a few hours at our camps, assisting campers with checking-in, helping out with activities, running carnival games and assisting with clean-up.

Nursing/Medical Volunteers
Are you a Registered Nurse, Certified Nursing Assistant or other licensed medical professional looking for meaningful volunteer opportunities? If so, this opportunity might be perfect for you! Our Nursing/Medical Volunteers' main responsibility is to assist with administering medication and providing assistance should a medical need arise. In their down time, Nursing/Medical Volunteers get to spend time interacting with and assisting our campers!

Staff Volunteers
Our Camp Staff play an integral role in ensuring that our camps run smoothly. These volunteers serve as camp counselors throughout the entire week of camp. Click HERE for additional information on these opportunities.

Childcare Volunteers
Children's Cancer Connection hosts a variety of programs for both the children and families we serve. Some of these programs require volunteer assistance with childcare to ensure that our programs run smoothly. Volunteers in this position may assist with childcare for children of varying ages.

Program Volunteers
Our Program Volunteers help us to execute all of our many programs we offer. From going on field trips around the Des Moines metro with the children we serve, to spending time with our teens at a Teen Hangout, Program Volunteers help us with a variety of fun and exciting tasks!

Information Table Volunteers
Children's Cancer Connection is asked to staff informational tables at various events throughout the year. We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable talking to the public and who are passionate about supporting CCC and our Volunteer Program. Volunteers assisting in this position will be provided with handouts and flyers to share with the public.

General Office Volunteers
These volunteers support Children's Cancer Connection by assisting with a variety of projects and tasks in the office. These projects are ever changing, but may include stuffing envelopes, taking inventory and tagging merchandise.

Special Event Volunteers
Children's Cancer Connection hosts several fundraising events throughout the year, as well as receives tremendous support from the community through third-party fundraisers and events. Typical volunteer responsibilities vary by event, but may include selling apparel, registering guests and assisting with event set-up and tear-down.

Fleece Tie Blankets
Looking for a volunteer opportunity you can do from the comfort of your own home? One fun and impactful way to get involved is by making and donating fleece tie blankets. Each camper at our Oncology and Sibling Camps is sent home with their own fleece blanket. As you can imagine, with approximately 500 campers each year between both of these camps, we need a lot of volunteer support! HERE you will find instructions to get started.
