Meet Michelle Fischbach, one of Children’s Cancer Connection’s fantastic volunteers!
Michelle lives in Clive and is a Sr. Human Resources Consultant at Nationwide. She first became involved with CCC when a former board member reached out to her as they were looking for a new board member with human resources experience. Michelle had also been looking for a volunteer opportunity in which she could include her daughters, so the timing was perfect. She served on the CCC board from 2018-2021.
She has also volunteered at camp check-in with her daughter Lydia, at Holiday Drop-Off and on the Camping the Night Away Des Moines planning committee. Michelle and Lydia teamed up to make decorations for the event! Most recently, the duo helped build storage room shelves after CCC’s remodel, and they laminated name tags for camp volunteers. Busy ladies!
“The CCC families and staff are so appreciative of our help, and we have so much fun each time we volunteer,” Michelle said.
In addition to volunteering with CCC, Michelle has served on the Waukee Schools Vocal Music Boosters Board, during which she also enjoyed watching her daughters perform in show choir and chaperoning their trips. In her spare time she likes to read, walk and try different local ice cream shops each week in the summer!
