Children’s Cancer Connection has received a grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity to fund its 2022 Teen Camp and Exploration Expedition programs.
Children’s Cancer Connection is a nonprofit organization serving over 750 Iowa families annually that have been affected by childhood cancer with free resources, programs, and other support services. CCC’s teen events and programs provide opportunities for kids who’ve had cancer and their siblings to connect with others on a similar journey.
The Variety grant will be used to fund CCC’s Camp Heart Connection Teen Camp, a weekend-long camp for teens to enjoy traditional camp activities, as well as Exploration Expedition, a trip for teens adventure to various parts of Iowa each year and discover all that the state has to offer.
“Having cancer or a sibling with cancer is challenging enough, but teenagers face additional stressors among their age group and need even more support and connection,” said Jennifer Hines, CEO at Children’s Cancer Connection. “This grant from Variety - the Children’s Charity, will help us expand our much-needed programs and services to the teens we serve in Iowa.”
